Dell to Hire 2000 more in India

Dell continues to outsource staff, this time a further 2000 staff in India are due to join the team.

A small part of this new group will be involved with customer support but in the main they will be software developers and back office staff.

The increase of Indian employees for Dell is one of the indications that the outsourcing trend seems to be entering a new period, according to John Challenger, chief executive of Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
Dell will hire another 2,000 people for its India offices, the company has reported, bringing its total number of Indian employees up to 10,000 by the years end.

Nokia takes on IPod

Nokia the Finnish phone maker is about to take on IPod with their newly released Nokia N91.

IPod will no doubt come under some pressure to keep up with this new technology…

Finnish phone phenomenon Nokia announced the N91 and promises to give IPod a run for their downloads with the mobile phone with a 4 gig hard disk which will hold up to 3000 songs. IPod may have their work cut out for them..
The hot little number is the latest in Nokias Nseries multimedia offerings and promises to be a heavy piece of equipment. The stainless steel phone will be a offer a whole slew of nifty features and connectivities.

AOL - New Instant Messaging

America Online AOL are about to upgrade their old instant messaging system.
Named Triton the new system should be unveiled later this year which will bring AOL back to the forefront in terms of communication.

Anick Jesdanun Associated Press Internet Writer explains…

America Online Inc. is preparing to ditch its decade old instant messaging platform, building a replacement from scratch thats designed to integrate text, audio, video and future forms of communication.
AOL has released an early, limited feature preview of its next-generation IM software, called Triton, and hopes to complete it by years end. AOL plans only one more update to the existing AIM software, now at version 5.9.

Google - Different Approach

Google is considering a different approach to the way in which it views its future.

In the past Google has been extremely profit driven but the founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin might in the future back some other enterprises, some may even be of the non profit variety.

Challenging convention, Googles (GOOG) maverick founders might join other entrepreneurs trying a capitalist approach to philanthropy.
The nascent Google Foundation is weighing investments in for profit firms that also pursue worthy causes. Thats a switch from mainstream philanthropy, where money goes to non profit charities.
Google, whose founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are each worth about $8 billion, has until recently said little about the foundation since announcing last year that it might eclipse Google itself in world impact.

Doubleclick Advertising Sale…

Well known advertising firm DoubleClick is considering a $1.1 Billion offer to sell.

DoubleClick CEO Kevin Ryan said the deal is the culmination of DoubleClicks search to create better value for shareholders.

With many rivals in the marketplace this may be a good time to sell…

Should the deal close in the third quarter as both parties expect, DoubleClick CEO Kevin Ryan will step down to pursue other opportunities. President David Rosenblatt will continue to oversee the TechSolutions division as its CEO, with Brian Rainey continuing to helm the DataSolutions division as CEO.
