Internet Advertising Booming

It comes as no surprise that advertising on the internet has reached record levels.

Many companies have now realised the power of the medium and are including online advertising in their marketing mix.

Internet advertising sales set a record last year of $9.6-billion, an industry survey showed on Thursday.
The Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers said the figure was up 33 percent from 2003 and exceeded the previous record, set in 2000, by almost 20 percent.
Interactive advertising has clearly become a mainstream medium and one that can no longer be ignored as a critical piece of any marketing mix, said Greg Stuart, president and chief executive of the IAB, said in a statement.

Digital Library Proposed

European Leaders have proposed that works contained in European libraries should be accessible online.

This is a great concept and is one that we should watch with interest.

This Associated Press report explains…

Six European leaders jointly proposed Thursday that works contained in European libraries be made accessible online, in what they called a European digital library.
The appeal to European Union officials was signed by French President Jacques Chirac, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany.
