IBM Reduces Staff by 13000
IBM have started a major restructure that will see them shed some 13000 staff.
This is in reaction to extreme pressure from competition and other factors in the marketplace.

This reorganization effort is a clear indication that the I.T. industry is in transition, said Yankee Group analyst Dana Gardner. The competition worldwide is moving quickly up the food chain. Open source technology, outsourcing and enterprise buying decisions are putting the pressure on IBM, Sun, HP, Seibel, among others, he said.
I.T. giant IBM is getting leaner if not meaner as the company zeroes in on remaining competitive in the business services market.
